Thousands of anti-capitalist protesters took to the streets outside the Bank of England to express their anger at the role of the city in the financial crisis.
The London Metropolitan Police were out in force to contain the demonstrations, but, were vastly outnumbered. In an attempt to keep control of the situation the refused to let people leave the area and demonstrators eventually though their way through one police line; forcing the them to flee and seek cover.
Enforcements soon arrived but their passage was blocked by protesters who sat in the road.
The chant of 'Our streets, Our streets' broke out sporadically as protesters sensed some form of victory.
