All around small town America kids of all ages are treated to the lights, sounds, and fun of the carnival. Carnivals travel from travel from town-town-town spending 3 days to one week at each location. The carnival is usually sponsored by a community organization, in this case, the Waldwick Lions Club.
While the food booths are typically independent vendors, and the rides are part of the travelling show, the games are rented and manned by community volunteers. The profits are used as a fund-raising activity for the organization.
The carnival is a place, where on a summer night, young teens can gather and have something to do. Unless the carnival is large older teens tend not to have an interest.
The carnival is usually held in the same place each year and may end in a fireworks show. Unfortunately the fireworks, and often the carnival itself may be cancelled due to rain.
The carnival is a pillar of Americana with roots in the 1893 Chicago World's Fair.
