Chaos in Athens as Protest Turns Violent
Several thousand people gathered in downtown Athens on the anniversary of the shooting death of 15 year old Alexandros Grigoropoulos who was shot by police in 2008. The protest, which began peacefully turned violent as protesters hurled insults and stones at the police who responded with tear gas and stun-grenades. As night fell, scattered groups of rioters vandalized city property and continued to taunt the police. Athens, Greece. 06/12/2009
