Thanks to the internationally acclaimed and controversial documentary "The Cove" there has been a recent resurgence of interest in the trade in dolphin meat in Japan.

This picture was taken in Numazu city in Shizuoka prefecture just 1 1/2 hours from Tokyo.
There are many issues surrounding the consumption of dolphin meat in Japan but the Japanese publics ingnorance of the health risks associated with the mercury tainted meat make this far more than an environmental or moral issue.
