Flood in Kelantan

The flood season hit Kelantan earlier than expected this month causing more then 2,000 people to be evacuated from several districts. Kelantan, Malaysia. 29/11/2009.

Usually the flood season starts in the month of December, but unfortunately the rain started to pour in November causing RM18.2 million worth of damage. Some 4,054 hecters of paddy in several state in Kelantan and 1,200 farmers were affected.

'The heavy rain had submerged paddy around Tumpat 1,659 hecter, Pasir Mas 1,242 hectre, Bachok 618 hectre and Kota Bharu 23 hectre', said KADA General Manager, Ibrahim Mat, at Kampung Teluk Jering while visiting damaged paddy fields here.
