The Ningyo Kuyo festival takes place at Kiyomizu Kannon-do Temple in Tokyo's Ueno Park. This Buddhist ritual provides the last rites for loved but unwanted dolls that the owners wish to send off properly. Starting at 2pm guest arrive with dolls they wish to cremate and each is blessed with full funeral rites. After this they are put into a rather industrial looking incinerator and cremated.
