Huge cache of explosives recovered in Upper Assam

Over a period of last two weeks information was being received regarding the move of large quantity of explosives into Tinsukia district from Mon district and adjoining areas of Nagaland, to carry out
in Society, on the 13th of August 2009
The troops of 19th Battalion, The Kumaon Regiment of 181 Mountain Brigade under DAH Division launched a major search operation along with the Assam police Sadia,  and recovered a large stash of weapons and ammunition. 

The raid succeeded in recovering 50kg of explosive, 104 electric detonators, 22m of safety fuse, 10m of detonating Cordex, ten rounds of 9mm calibre and one 9mm magazine and a pistol was recovered from GHURMURIA RESERVE FOREST, before the celebrations for the India Independence Day. 

The recovery of such large quantity of explosive before the Independence Day has dented a major blow to the intentions of the terrorists involved in sabotage activities in Tinsukia district.
