King's Birthday Celebrations

Thousands gathered outside the old parliament building in Bangkok as part of the ongoing birthday celebrations for the King of Thailand. Bangkok, Thailand. 06/12/2009.

An orchestra played whilst images and and short films promoting the king's agricultural sufficiency projects were projected onto the old parliament building. The traditional colour worn on this day is yellow, however, due to the recent political connotation attributed to the 'yellow shirt'-'red shirt' stand-off, most wore pink shirts instead, another royal colour. His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej, who holds the regal title of (Rama IX) marked his 82nd Birthday.
