Traditional celebration take place in Lewes, East Sussex. Every year traffic into Lewes is stopped at sunset and the town's bonfire societies parade down the high street in a cacophony of fire, noise and smoke.
Each year an unpopular figure from the previous year's news is constructed, pulled through the streets and unceremoniously blown-up with fireworks later in the evening.
Each society ends the evening with an enormous bonfire and fireworks display.
