Laâyoune - The Moroccan-Spanish relations are based on solid foundations and cannot be affected by the case of Aminatou Haidar, secretary general of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM-opposition), Mohamed Cheikh Biadillah, said on Saturday.
Speaking at a press conference attended by the members of the Party's political bureau and MPs from the Kingdom's southern provinces, Biadillah said that Spanish officials with whom he met during his Madrid visit "make the difference between the isolated case of Aminatou Haidar and the Moroccan-Spanish relations which are based on solid foundations and common interests."
For his part, member of PAM's national bureau, Fouad Ali El Himma, said Spain is aware that the measure taken by Morocco against the so-called Aminatou Haidar is a simple implementation of law and it is in conformity with the international law.
In holding this meeting in Laâyoune, we want to send a strong message to Spain, he said.
Spain has to choose between living next to a Morocco that has control over its territory, or in a hazardous region which could have consequences on the future of Spain and Europe, he added.
El Himma noted that Morocco succeeded in fighting all problems facing Spain (illegal immigration, drug trafficking, extremism and terrorism).
