New Delhi’s 2nd Gay Pride Parade, India:
For the second year in a row, the gay, lesbian community and its supporters are getting ready to march the streets of Delhi.

The initiative was launched last year when the first Gay Pride Parade took place in the National Capital and hundreds of queer individuals came out to participate.

The organisers have brought out a blog to underline the reasons for this march. They highlight the violence and discrimination faced by the gay community along with the likes of bisexual, trangender and intersex people.

Protest against Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code that classifies homosexual individuals as criminals is going to be on the agenda of the Gay Pride Parade this year as it was last year.

Another important issue that is often overlooked is the idea of a separate identity for people of different sexual orientations.

The blog explains the history of the word 'queer' and talks about how the gay community has changed the meaning of the word from something derogatory to something that instils pride and a sense of a empowerment.

The organsiers have called on the community and its supprters to congregate, "break this silence and splash the colours of our lives and the full rainbow spectrum of our diversity on the streets of Delhi."
