The house of Hossam Dwayyat was demolished today in the village of Sur Bahar.
This action was in retaliation for Hossam Dwayyat's bulldozer attack in Jerusalem, on July 2 2008, in which he killed 3 people before being shot.
While the demolition was going on, a young Palestinian man, identified as Iyyad Azmi Awisat of Jabel Mukaber, was killed in Sur Bahar by Border guards in as yet unclear circumstances.
The police reports that the 20 year old, at the wheel of a Seat Ibiza, tried to run over soldiers stationed by a roundabout. Eyewitnesses report that he was shot at 20 times.
Shortly after the accident crowds gathered at the scene. The head of the village maintained the situation under control but as the ambulance arrived to take away the body, clapping and shouts of 'Allah is great' were followed by stones. The border police immediately answered with tear gas and the clashes went on of about an hour.
Once the police retreated and calm returned, the locals were left looking at the bloodstains on the tarmac and at the rubble of Hossam Dwayyat's house.
