Reports suggest the fire broke out around 14:45, and by 1 the effects of the fire could be seen as far afield as Selby in Yorkshire. One family-run business with premises adjacent to the fire which erupted in Hangar No. 4 had to be evacuated immediately, and the owners could do nothing as their whole business was razed to the ground. Police and fire services attended from all over the county and Humber side, with platforms being brought in to help fight the blaze.
