Remembering Allegheny Flight 853
September 9, 1969 at 1529 hours - Allegheny Flight 853 (DC9) enroute to St. Louis, Missouri out of Boston collides with a single passenger Piper light aircraft at 3500 feet sending both to aircraft crashing to earth. All 83 souls were lost.
Paranormal 911, a paranormal investigations group in Indianapolis, Indiana (USA) hosted a memorial to Allegheny Flight 853 Wednesday September 9, 2009 the 40th anniversary, at the crash which is located near the small town of Fairland in central Indiana. The DC9 impacted approximately 300 feet north of the then named Shady Acres Trailer Court in a farm field (now corn) just east of London Road. Notable persons attending the small ceremony was Spiritual Personality Marilene Isaacs of Indianapolis, as well as sons and daughter of the DC9 pilot John, Mike, and Diane Elrod. Marilene led a prayer honoring the victims and shared her experiences from an earlier spiritual reading at the crash site. Paranormal 911 members read prayers, poems, and statements from other family members who could not attend the days memorial.
