Renaissance Carnival in Gyula, Hungary
The seventh annual Renaissance Carnival is taking place February 5-7 in the Hungarian town of Gyula (200 kilometers southeast of Budapest).
The residents of this town of 35,000, known amongst another things for its spa and its sausages, did not let the freezing temperatures deter their desire to have a good time.
This year’s event featured a procession led by a actors dressed as Hungarian King Matyas, his Queen Beatrix and members of their court, musical acts that specialize in performing on the instruments of the period, and a renaissance fashion show.
