The preliminary results for the Iraq Elections 2010 have been delayed until the end of this month. Posters of the Parliamentary candidate hopefuls are still scattered across the nation keenly awaiting the results of the successful and popular elections. 15/03/2010. Iraq.

Turnout for the Iraq Elections 2010 were surprisingly high with an estimated turnout of 62% in the nation that is trying to recover from the U.S invasion in 2004. The Iraqi parliamentary candidates had their posters scattered across the country but who will win?

The preliminary results were due to be released on March 7 but it is now clear that apparently due to the slow pace of vote counting they are expected to be relaeased at the end of the month. So far only 30% of the votes have been counted with indications that the State of Law Coalition, headed by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is in the lead in the southern territories. The Ex-prime minister Iyad Allawi, former Ba’athist and a secular Shia leader is expected to win the majority in the Sunni dominated al-Anbar province and Kirkuk.

The Iranian backed Iraqi National Alliance is expected to lose ground in Iraq compared to their dominance in the 2005 elections.
