Starting a fresh morning at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education(OISE), citizens of various age groups, genders, occupation backgrounds, nationalities and religious beliefs gathered at the downtown auditorium to celebrate International Women's Day (IWD) and to join a powerful audience in witnessing heartfelt, engaging yet informative speeches and performances by immigrant workers, graduate students in debt, regional organizations etc. While the celebration regards human rights, emphasis is placed on the strong women and those supporting.
The differing minds of audience and stage crew merged focus on the peaceful rally with police supervision; by early afternoon, along Bloor Street W. and Yonge Street swarmed with energized protesters and curious passerbys overtaking with flying banners, flashing cameras and rhyming chants.
The peaceful rally continued at 2:30pm with a IWD fair at Ryerson University's Student Campus Centre where workshops and info-sessions took place.
