It is always amazing to watch the armed forces recruitment exercise in Kenya. This year, the exercise kicked off on Monday 23rd and will last for a month in all the 186 districts which are equivalent to states.
This is in Chaka trading centre in Nyeri North District of Central Province. Over 3000 youths turned up for the recruitment but only afew were to be selected to join the armed forces.
The exercise involves scrutinizing of academic performances, body fitness and screening of ones health status.
Frustrations, fatigue, tension and surprises characterises the exercise. Earlier, cases of corruption were rampant as parents tried to influence their children to be picked as soldiers.
