Tandjong priok-Old Train Station

Jakarta, Indonesia(April 26, 2009)- The Tandjong Priok Train Station was a luxurious building. We still feel the rest of her grandeur. This art deco building has two floors and three entrance gates: eastern gate of main entrance, and both of southern and northern gates. Each of entrance had a standing clock. Unfortunately, it just has one clock remain in the main entrance.
This station has built in 1914 until 1925 when Batavia was governed by A.F.W. Idenburg (1909-16). For the reason of finishing this building need 1.700 workers, 130 workers part of them was from Europe. This remarkable station started to operate since 1925.
The Station of Tandjong Priok had has relationship between the busy harbor of Tandjong Priok. Travel by railway train was more comfort and safety than other vehicles at this time. It was the dangerous swamp between Tandjong Priok and Batavia.

Now Tandjong Priok train station come back to life after 9 long silence with neither reduce authenticity form of its building. A passenger can back use this station for a daily transportation.
