Jerusalem Gay Pride March
Jerusalem's Open House for Pride and Tolerance organised the city's controversial Gay Pride parade. This year's march marked the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots in New York City - an event which signaled the beginning of the global LGBT movement. In previous years, the parade faced violent protests and a bloody knife attack in 2005. This year was much quieter, with protesters claiming they preferred not to give the march more publicity by holding high-profile demonstrations.
