Action from the mens finals of the Modern Pentathlon World Championship 2009 at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in London. All five events were competed by the 32 finalists: fencing, swimming, the new combined shoot-and-run, and show-jumping. Athletes were introduced to the horses they would ride just minutes before the event. None of the athletes had ridden any of the horses prior to the final itself.
Adam Morosi of Hungary crossed the finish line in the shoot/run event to become the 2009 Mens Modern Pentathlon World Champion. Winning the silver medal and for the second consecutive year was David Svoboda of the Czech Republic, and winning bronze was Dmytro Kirpulyanskyy of Ukraine. Britain’s Nick Woodridge and Sam Weale finished 13th and 29th respectively.
The Hungarian team also won gold in the team event to become team champions, with Czech Republic in silver position and Lithuania winning bronze.
