On the national day of action for marriage equality (01/08/09), the GLBT community and gay marriage supporters gathered at Town Hall Sydney to protest against the Labor’s national policy-making conference which refused to recognise gay marriage.
The crowd marched along George St and across Darling Harbour. They chanted “Gay Marriage Rights”, as speakers such as Wayne Morgan, encouraged the crowd and explained the situation of gay right within the Australia.
At last, hundreds of gay, lesbian and gender- unidentified couples exchanged vows and married illegally outside Sydney Convention Centre with a beam of hope to be recognized.
