The annual school students parade in the city of Thessaloniki, took place today, on the eve of Ochi Day, which commemorates the rejection by Greece of the ultimatum given by the Italian fascist dictator Mussolini, to allow his forces to occupy the country. Thessaloniki, Greece, 27/10/2009.
The Ochi Day (No Day) commemorates Greek government's rejection, in 1940, of the ultimatum made by the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, demanding that Greece allows his forces to enter and occupy Greece.
The events of 1940 are commemorated every year with student and military parades. In the city of Thessaloniki the Ochi Day is celebrated with a student parade on the eve of it, and a big military parade on the 28'th October.
