Contractors in Colwyn Bay are removing miles of piping after pumping tonnes of sand onto the town's beach as part of sea-defence measures costing £6million. The project has taken 3 weeks and used 320,000 cubic metres of sand from 20 miles offshore.

Emergency rescue teams are considering how to refloat a stricken cargo ship, which has been leaking marine gas after running aground in stormy seas off the coast of North Wales. Until a decision has been made, the boat remains on shore leaking oil.
