Scilla has been a haven for swordfish fishing for centuries from May to August as the delicious fish mate along the Tyrrhenian coast. Fishing with the felucca continues the tradition of fishing for swordfish in harmony with nature and re-stock fish.
The Riace bronzes were discovered August 16, 1972. The classical Greek statues were spotted partly buried in the sand by a snorkeler, Stefano Mariottini, about 300 meters off the cost of Riace, near Reggio Calabria, Italy. Images taken June 2012.
