The Olympic Torch arrived in Southampton on Saturday 14th July. Retired social worker Hilary Corrick carried the Olympic Torch through Southampton's Old Town, passing the City's most important historic building, the Tudor House.

RMS Queen Mary II, named by Queen Elizabeth II in 2004 after the first RMS Queen Mary, is the only transatlantic ocean liner in line service between Southampton and New York. The liner made an historic visit to Ireland at Dun Laoghaire.
