Hi Was, thanks for the tip. I need to look into if where the protests in Berlin might be

Wais

The verdict for the murder of Marwa al-Sherbini, 31, who was three-months pregnant at the time with her second child, killed by Alex Wiens a Russian born resident of Dresden is expected on November 11, 2009. The initial lack of interest in the case by police and the media sparked outrage in the Islamic community. Protests are expected.

Hello fellow Demotix members in Germany. Next Friday will be the opening day of my exhibition in Brazil. It will be my first solo showing and 30 photographs from Brazil will be shown. The exhibition is titled, "Brasilien: ein Land der Zukunft" "Brazil: A Country of the Future" and includes many photographs I shot in the countryside, portraits, and interviews with people. You can see more info on this Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=141450939388&index=1

At september 16th Turi reported by the Demotix-blog about a travel to Hamburg and to the Axel-Springer-publishing house. It´s very great, that he looks for possiblities selling Demotix-stories to Germany´s newspapers. But I guess, that Turi doesn´t speak german and that he don´t read the "Bildblog". Because people often asked me, not to send their pictures to the Bild, which is the most sold and (not without reasons) also the most disreputed paper here around, I commented at the blog by the following lines:

"When I had to answer the question, which german news-company would be the perfect customer of Demotix-stories, Axel Springer in general and the Bild konkrete wouldn´t come in my mind - even not as the last of a row of possibilities. Bild is the largest sold here around, that´s right. Bild is boulevard, it serves mainly to populistic and sometimes also nationalistic ideas. If I didn´t understand allthing wrong here, Demotix-stories are asking interest about the live of the people at foreign countries. But the usually Bild-reader cann´t spend attention to the problems of foreigners. That´s why I see a hard contradiction between the policies of Bild and Demotix.

If Demotix would use an APIS-account and Bild would buy sometimes there, so it´s something we had to accept. But if the Demotix-sales-manager is going to offer our pictures especially to Bild, Demotix has at first to provide a possibility to it´s german photographers to exclude once pictures or their portfolio completely from that.

Please think about, that many people gave permission to take their photos under condition, that these pictures aren´t published by Bild. In such cases You´re risking to get Your photographers accused at court. And please think about, that we have a lot of photographers here, who don´t like to see their pictures in boulevard papers.

With kind regards,
Peter"
