The Salvation Army dedicated their new SAFES (Salvation Army Female Emergency Shelter) building at SW 2nd and Burnside, the former Harbor Light Building. Fairbridge will offer new growth and potential for this shelter that served 295 women in 2012.

Police took a 29 year old male into custody after he reportedly ran from a car and barricaded himself in a room at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in SW Portland. The standoff lasted four hours.

Just before 2pm officers responded to the Veteran Affairs Medical Center to a man with a knife who had barricaded himself into a room in one of the buildings. Officers from the Special Emergency Reaction Team responded.

Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue practiced firefighting techniques in a home that was donated by Cedar Mill Bible Church. Veteran training officers set fires for recruits to extinguish and the house was then burnt to the ground making way for a park.
