Andrew Steiner
My involvement in photography is personal.I empathize with the stories of my subjects and I try not to impose any pre-conceived roles even though I may have a specific vision in mind.
My photographic style and visual concerns have their roots in the work of André Kertesz, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Mary-Ellen Mark. These photographers explore the tragic and sublime through the stories of everyday events and people.
As a photographer it is my goal to transcend the expectations we may have concerning a specific place or event and expose something that hadn’t been realized, a different facet of the same story.
