Personal Statement
I believe on strong determination and clear idea and myself, assists me all the time to strive for the goal. Photographs of some of the senior photojournalist of Nepal impressed me very much at the time when I was almost unknown about my career. I made a decision to be a professional photojournalist and I joined diploma course in Still Photography and Photo Journalism.
After completing diploma my journey of a professional photojournalist stands. At first I just covered the picture best suited for the newspapers. Being just press -oriented I patricide almost all the beats and genres of photography. And, I sacrificed five years of the journey mostly for the media houses. In this period I worked in affiliation with the largest publication houses of Nepal: Kantipur Publication (Kantipur National Daily and The Kathmandu Post, an English Daily), Kamana Prakashn Samuha (Aajako Samachar Patra, a Nepali National Daily) APCA (The Himalayan Times, an English Daily) and Bhrikuti Publication ( Samay, a weekly News Magazine in Nepali) and others. And, Yet , my picture have been appeared even in India Today, Tehalka, Frontline of the Indian publications and Newsweek.
In the process of learning I attended international workshops conducted by world famous photojournalists like Morten Krogvold (Norway), Peter Meyer (Mexio), Reza Deghati (Iran), Raghu Rai (India) and others.I participated in various national and international photo exhibition.
I came on contact with various world popular photographers. I am impressed very much with the picture by Jamesh Nacthwey, Reza, Shaidul Alam and Patick Brown. And I respect them as my role models.
I had been restricted within the boundary and done nothing for the community. I realized later. And now I am freelancer photojournalist mostly in the field of social issues like poverty, conflict, social discriminations and human right and basically the issues of oppressed class.
In Nepal photography has not been institutionalized yet, but it can be only the easiest medium to show what is really happening in Nepal. It’s only photo that can tell the truth. And through photography we can do something for social awareness, justice and development by bringing out the information to the front of the world.
I believe on the power of visual media to dig out the truth for social change. And now onward I have determined to focus the lance for social awareness.
And I am sure that my pictures can reflect the real Nepal. And the platform you are
Providing can be the effective medium to introduce true picture of Nepal to the International Market.
