![Kaleidoscopic Kathmandu Changing
Kathmandu City, December 31, 2009(www.demotix.com) : There is a strange similarity between the English weather and that of Kathmandu valley[Nepal]. Both geo-space could invite exceptionally tricky weather in the fag end of December. With peeping sunshine we took off from Zia International Airport[DAC- Dhaka Bangladesh] on Dec 30,2009 afternoon.
It was expected that the weather of Kathmandu valley[KTM] would be friendly for couple of brilliant photographs.
Our dream evaporated even before we could touch down at Tribhuban International airport [on the Kathmandu valley]. It was a “perfect bad weather” which forced ace pilots to ponder about ‘safe landing’.
The Kathmandu valley as well as most parts of Nepal were engulfed with fog, smog and chilly winds from Himalayan and other mountain range. Only rare exception was found at Thamel area of Kathmandu city. Thamel is the cultural hub in the Nepalese capital. The cheering multicultural & international crowd became enthralled when they watched young unplugged bands continuously performing defying extreme weather in the city.
Everything turned positive on Dec 31st 2009 when the valley again experienced reasonable sunshine. Alongside the sunshine three little angels- Ishma Subedi(Class Four), Karishma Subedi (Class Two) and Ushma Subedi (Class Two) reminded me that Nepal is changing and moving forward defying all odds.Nepal is progressing even when it is very much inside the womb of abject poverty, social injustice and political turbulance. The glocal geopolitics are alsoto be blamed for Nepal's less than expected growth.
