Personal Statement

I am a 26 years old student in political science in Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. I went in exchange at the City University of Hong Kong and at the American University in Cairo.

I became interested in photojournalism after being caught in the middle of ethnic clashes in Urumqi in July 2009, where I took my profile picture. I started my photojournalist freelance work in Cairo during the spring 2010, and I now contribute with The Concordian, my school's newspaper.

I study political science so I find that photography is my way of putting the finger on societal problems. I feel concerned about people's story, so putting it into a picture is my way of spreading their untold stories.
