Authors were in publishers’ booths as well as in a separate signing areas to autograph copies of their latest works. Lines of attendees sometimes stretched around corners as writers and illustrators, famous and not, signed until their hands cramped.

An Affenpinscher won Best in Show at the 137th Westminster Kennel Club dog show in New York's Madison Square Garden. The evening competition included Junior Showmanship finals and sporting, working and terrier group finals.
