Personal Statement

Future Voice & Social entrepreneurship

This principle not only encourages participation, but also shows students that the future is in online journalism. We see this as fundamental to our core aims of encouraging, nurturing and promoting the talent that exists within the vibrant student media circles worldwide.

Mobile news

With the majority of students owning and using mobile phones and their associated technology it is only right that a student press agency takes full advantage of the merits of new technologies. Future Voices will allow images/film and text news stories to be sent to its news desk. On the back of this students, the press and other agencies will be able to receive bulletins, images and films direct to their mobile phones.

News and imagery

The quantity and quality of news and imagery generated by students is increasing year on year. Future Voices will showcase news stories, features, photo-essays and short documentary style student works.
Every effort is being made to ensure that students can submit work that will allow both an income and course related negotiated portfolios.

Work experience and training

Future Voices allows for a full range of work experience in online publishing and experience roles within an online press agency. This experience is backed up by the industry and can be undertaken via distance methods online or in-house with the Future Voice team, Demotix and other news organisations.
Training programs including Hostile Environment Awareness and Satellite Communications for the news journalist have been designed with students in mind.
Opportunities will be accompanied by Future Voices lectures by leading new media figures and organisations, which will be open to all students to attend.

Using Future Voice helps others

Future Voice runs two unique overseas training programs. One has run in Iraq for over a year. The other is new and is promoting, developing and securing the future of young Afghan journalists.
