I began my journalism career in High School and was the editor of my college newspaper. I graduated with a degree in Journalism. After college I wrote news for a small television station. Later, I wrote sports updates for another station. After that, I got married and changed my career direction.
Currently, I teach at a High School and taught journalism classes for a few years. I believe a journalist or a photojournalist must uphold the highest ethical standards. The code of ethics from the Society of Professional Journalists was the first lesson I taught my high school journalism students.
Besides my teaching duties, I'm working with a small group of street photographers and freelancers on news stories in Arizona, including Parker Haeg who also writes for Demotix.
I'm retiring in May and would like to get back into the journalistic field.
