Personal Statement
I am a New York based documentary photographer. I have been in love with photography since a very young age. My vision has been influenced by the troubles in Northern Ireland and the civil rights movement in the South.
When I moved to NY, I was introduced to Louis Stettner, who helped me to broaden my vision of the world around me. Currently, I am documenting how people are surviving in this economy, in New York, the Deep South and Los Angeles.
This past year, I was able to attend the Missouri Photo Workshop and was able to do so on the Bill and Duane Honorary Directors Scholarship, given in honor of former co-directors Duane Dailey and Bill Kuykendall and funded by their friends. This was awarded to an applicant with interests in photographing those who work with their hands in rural America. Attending this workshop was a defining event in my life that helped sharpen my skills and see the possibility of new images and stories in the world around me.
