Francisco Puñal Suárez (Lazaropan) was born on May 23, 1950 in the city of Matanzas, Cuba
Licensed in Journalism in the University of the Havana in 1974.
The same year, Francisco joins to the Cuban Cinematographic Institute of Art and Industry, as analyst and assistant of direction of the filmmakers Santiago Álvarez, Daniel Díaz Torres, Fernando Perez and Rolando Díaz, in the Newscaster Latin-American ICAIC, where later he happens to be a director, and develops the majority of his work, from 1979 until 1991. His works are characterized by his critical and humorous sense.
Francisco lives in Spain, from 1997, for a contract of work in Canary Islands.
He nowadays contributes with the Galician newspaper A Peneira, and Siglo 21, a Latin publication edited in Boston.
His photos of press have been selected to integrate the exhibition and the catalogue of Galicia in Foco, in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008, in that the photojournalists of Galicia take part.
