  • The BUPA 10km road race took place in central London. Starting on The Mall the route went past some of London's most famous sights and was won by double Olympic gold medalist Mo Farah.

  • The London Marathon took place in central London. With increased security due to the Boston bombings thousands of runners took to the streets, the men's race was won by Tsegaye Kebede of Ethiopia and Priscah Jeptoo of Kenya won the women's race.

  • The annual Tibetan Freedom March was held today in central London on Tibetan Uprising Day, marking the anniversary of the 1959 uprising against Chinese occupation when the Dalai Lama was forced to flee Tibet.

  • The 10th Box Hill Knacker Cracker 10KM race took place on Box Hill in Surrey this morning. More of a fun run then a race many competitors ran the hilly and muddy course in fancy dress in what organisers say is the toughest 10K in Britain.

  • The AVIVA Birmingham Athletics Grand Prix took place at the Alexandra stadium in Bimingham. This event is one of fourteen Diamond League meetings held around the world and many of those taking part had achieved medal success at the London Olympics.

  • The mens Olympic marathon took place on the streets of London today. The race started and finished on the Mall and was a four lap route taking in many of London's most famous sights. The race was was won by Stephen Kiprotich of Uganda.
