For the first time in over 100 years, the Balmoral Show has been held outside Belfast, at the newly opened Balmoral Park, former site of HMP Maze.

The Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward, opened the 2013 Balmoral Show and named Balmoral Park, which was formerly the Maze/Long Kesh Prison. It is the first time in over 100 years that the agricultural show has been held outside Belfast.

Kenyan Joel Kipsang Kositany was the first man to cross the finish line of this year's Belfast City Marathon in a time of 2:19:27. Nataliya Lehonkova set a new course record with her time of 2:36:50 to become the first female across the line.

PSNI investigate a serious sexual assault on a 17 year old girl beside a children's play park in Botanic Gardens in South Belfast. A 21 year old male has been arrested in connection with the incident.
