i'll get back to this
Hello, I am trying to up date
Hello, I am trying to up date the assignments page as often as possible -apologies for any slackness! Give me a shout if you need anything. You can use the team whiteboards to suggest/ask for story ideas.
Best of luck with your photography
Thank you for your apology. I
Thank you for your apology. I understand your views on the international media, It's great that Demotix offers anyone with access to a digital camera the opportunity to share their story, so I find posting stories along side people from oppressed or underprivileged countries from different corners of the globe a real worthwhile exercise. I know what it's like trying to get the media to take interest, . . . even when you offer it on a plate. I really enjoy seeing the diverse and rich stories from the Demotix contributors. Once more people get to hear of the site in Australia then we can reach the critical-mass threshold and hopefully create some editor interest.
I realise I made a mistake with the tags on Melbourne scorcher, they were misleading so it's updated now.
Good to see your story.
i have only just joined - and
i have only just joined - and i don't claim to be an expert - or a reporter - or a professional photo journalist - but I just found it curious that yours was the only photo submitted on the topic - and i'm sorry if you took it as a criticism. I'm aware that the area is restricted but there are plenty of photos of the event in the media - some people are clearly THERE. I am not, thankfully. I am many miles away on the NC of NSW, but I live surrounded by forest, and I feel very much for these people...as under diferrent circumstances...it could have been me. Did you happen to see QandA on ABC TV last night. One woman actually took a home video of the fire all around her house. Imagine having the presence of mind to do that, and narrate it..... Luckily she survived to tell the tale, and show her video on national TV. It had more impact on me than any of the previous "professional" footage I've seen. Which is why I like the concept of this site - everyone can be a "reporter". News is what is happening all around us.
But, you must agree, that international news IS dominated by events in America, Europe etc. How many people outside Australia know who OUR PM is????
Sorry for the rave - I like to keep up informed debate ...and keep posting your pics. Sorry again if I offended.
